The AFL Centenary Cover above
shows the Richmond Peel and Stick Stamps with the Richmond Permanent Pictorial
Postmark (PMP 636) which was introduced on the 23rd April 1996. Approximately
200 covers were cancelled on the first day. Another
cover shows the sheetlet
stamp with cachet of premierships and Brownlow Medal winners.
The Tigers chose Jack Dyer
on the cover of their stamp Booklet and
Wayne Campbell on their Postcard and
maximum card.
At a spectacular night at the Crown Palladium on the
5th August 1999 the Richmond Football Club announced their
Team of the
Century.
On the 7th March 2000 the inaugural meeting of
the "Premiership Players Club" was held at the MCG to help raise funds for
charity. One Richmond player was included in the 20 players pictured on the A4
sheet of 20 P stamps of the millennium issue. He was
David Cloke. The stamps were
also displayed on a set of 20 first day covers by Havilah Enterprises.
The 25th May 2000 marked the release of club and individual
2000
Personalised Stamps.
On the 28th March 2001 the second annual meeting of the "Premiership
Players Club" was held at the MCG to help raise funds for charity. Two Richmond
players were included in the 20 players pictured on the A4 sheet of 20 P stamps
of the globe and map issue. They were
Kevin Sheedy and
Dale Weightman. The stamps were also
displayed on a set of 20 first day covers by Havilah Enterprises.
The 2001 season ended on a bright note for the Tigers
with them making the finals and finishing third. On the 30th March the
2001
Personalised Stamps was released.
On the 27th March 2002 the third annual meeting of the "Premiership
Players Club" was held at the MCG to help raise funds for charity. Two Richmond
players were included in the 20 players pictured on the A4 sheet of 20 P stamps
of the sand, sea and sky overlaid by the Southern Cross issue. They were
Bill Perkins
and
Michael Green. The stamps were
also displayed on a set of 20 first day covers by First Class Collectables.
On the 15th May the
2002 Personalised Stamps were
released.
2002 started disastrously
for the Tigers and didn't improve. They finished fourteenth despite making the
preliminary final in 2001. On the weekend of 27-28 July
2002 Matthew
Knights
retired after a long career.
A cover by First Class
Collectibles was released to commemorate his retirement.
2003 started slowly and never got off the ground and they failed to make the
eight. The Annual Premiership Players Club P stamp Sheet of 20
players was released on the 26th March 2003. The Richmond players featured were
Daryl
Cumming and
Max Oppy
In April the
2003 Personalised Stamps
were released.
The Tigers had high hopes with the signing of Nathan
Brown. In mid April the
2004
Personalised Stamps were released. This year they were a booklet
of 20 stamps showing 10 players, rather than the A4 sheet.
Bill Barrot
and
Jack Dyer
were included in the 20 players of the
"Premiership Players Club".
On the 1st April 2005 the Richmond Tigers booklet of the
2005 Personalised Stamps was
released. On 1st May 2005
Matthew Richardson played his 200th game for the Richmond Tigers.
A Commemorative Covers showing

was
released by First Class Collectables. On the 31st August 2005
Brett Deledio of Richmond was name the 2005 NAB Rising Star.

Class Collectables issued covers to commemorate the Best and Fairest
winners including
Joel Bowden.
On the 20th
March 2006 the Tigers
booklet of the
2006 Personalised Stamps was
released. Round 16 was the Heritage Round with clubs wearing jumpers
from a previous era. Onlycovers
released a cover for each club
including the
Richmond FC.
The Tigers finished last in 2007 with Australia Post issuing
the
2007 Personalised Stamps.
2008 saw a move up the ladder to 9th and their were great expectations
for 2009. Disapointment followed with the coach resigning and finishing second
last. Australia Post changed from the Prestige Booklet to the Folder
format issuing the
2008 Personalised Stamps
and
2009 Personalised Stamps. |
