Geelong win Premiership
On 29th September 2007,
after 44 years, Geelong finally won the Premiership with a record margin win
over Port Adelaide.
Coversplease
released a cover for all the Players. Australia Post
following tradition released a
Souvenir Stamp Sheet.
Wesley Cover Service released a
FDC.
After the AFL issue with medallion, Australia Post
issued a limited edition
Commemorative Medallion
on the
20th November 2007. |

Bernie Quinlan P stamp Sheetlet
The Fitzroy Historical Society produced a Souvenir Stamp
Sheet with ten 50c Kangaroo and flag stamps with "Superboot" in the
selvedge. Fitzroy, a foundation member of the VFL, had amalgamated with the
Brisbane Bears to become the Brisbane Lions. Bernie Quinlan played 189 games
with Fitzroy and kicked 576 goals. He was already an established star when
he came to Fitzroy after 178 games for Footscray. He played three times for
Victoria while at Fitzroy. He shared the 1981 Brownlow Medal with Barry
Round. |

Premiership Players Club
The 2007 Premiership Player's Club P-stamps were
again released continuing an annual tradition from 2000. The issue
consisted of a sheet of the 20 players along with single sheets for each player
and a sheet featuring father and son,
Harold and
Chris Lambert from Essendon. |
Fremantle Dockers Postmark
The Fremantle Dockers
Postmark was upgraded to
include changes in ongoing dates. The previous postmarks
APM29084
and
APM29330
are shown.
2007 AFL Stamps
On 27th March 2007
Australia Post released the
2007 AFL Stamp Issue. Each Booklet features ten Stamps with ten players in
the selvedge and a Team Medallion with the clubs and the AFL's Logo on
either side. Booklets cost $14.95.The Brisbane Lions Booklet is shown at right. |

10 Years of Australian Legends
The annual Legends issue on the 24th
January 2007 included a Prestige Booklet of the previous 10 issues.
The initial issue in
1997 commemorated Don Bradman shown on a
Miniature Sheet
with explanatory
Text.
The second issue in
1998 commemorated
the Olympic Legends. The athletes included Betty Cuthbert shown on a
Miniature Sheet
with explanatory
Text and Shirley Strickland
shown on a
Miniature Sheet
with explanatory
Text Both
won Gold Medals on the MCG in the 1956 Olympics.
The booklet was
overprinted
for the Fishers Ghosts Philately Show. |

Ashes Victory
On the 16th January 2007
Australia Post issued two stamps to celebrate Australia's regaining
of the Ashes. (see
2005 Ashes at the Oval). The 50c stamp shows a shot taken
during play and the $1.85 stamp shows victory celebrations. They were issued
both as gummed and peel and stick varieties. The gummed stamps are displayed
on the
FDC
and the FDC of the miniature sheet is shown
below. |

The Miniature Sheet
shows the two stamps, the Ashes Urn and the WACA in the background. It was
overprinted
for the
Melbourne APTA Stampshow
with "Melbourne February 07" and a numbered
limited edition
of 400 with "APTA congratulates the Australian Cricket Team for regaining
the Ashes 2006-07". A set of covers showing a
Batsman & Congratulatory message from each of
the five test venues including
Brisbane
The maximum cards shown Warne taking the
last wicket
and the players
congratulating
him. Australia Post also released a
Stamp Pack.
The Peel and Stick stamps were released in sheets of 5 for both the
0.50 cents
and
$1.85
and books of 50 for both the
0.50 cents
and
$1.85.
No Australia Post FDC was issued but some
Private covers
were produced.
The WACA
(Western Australia Cricket Ground) was used by the Eagles and Freo for night
games until the Subiaco Ground was upgraded.
On Australia Day, the 26th January 2007, there
was the release of
"The Urn Returns" pack and
on the 2nd February 2007 a limited edition
numinastic cover
of 8000 was released. |

100th Test at MCG
On the 12th December 2006
Australia Post released a Souvenir Stamp Sheet to commemorate the
100th Test match that was played on the MCG
starting on Boxing Day. The
