Brad Boyd played his first game for
Fitzroy in 1992. He was appointed Captain at the age of 23 in 1995 after Paul
Roos transferred to Sydney. Throughout these troubled times he carried most of
the weight on his shoulders. He won the Best and Fairest in 1995 and was runner
up in 1994 and 1996. He won Victorian Selection in 1994-95. He played 70 games.
He transferred to the Brisbane Lions for season
1997 but had a disastrous season with injury and played only 20 mins of football
for the season. He returned late in the 1998 season and played 6 games for a
career total of 77*. He showed that if injury free he would be a major
force with the Lions. In 1999 he was still troubled by a back injury. He played
only 8 games for a career total of 85 and retired at the start of 2000.
He was chosen by the Fitzroy Football Club as
its star on the Fitzroy Centenary Maximum Card and Postcard. The maximum card is
displayed below. The postcard is essentially the same except that the background
is brighter and there is no postmark or stamp. A cover with the
outline of the
postcard was also released. |
