Victoria Park |
Victoria Park had been Collingwood's
home Ground since the club was formed in 1892. It was feared by visiting clubs
both for the ferocity of the supporters and the lack of facilities, especially
the cold showers after a muddy game in mid winter.
Since 1993 Collingwood has played its main
matches at the nearby MCG and in the 2000 season moved their permanently. It was
the last of the suburban Melbourne grounds to loose AFL football. |
|
The final game was in the last
weekend of the 1999 home and Away season and the Pies were easily defeated by
the Brisbane Lions.
It is still used as a training and administrative
base.
Two covers were released by Havilah
Enterprises to commemorate the last game. 50 set of the two covers were
produced. |
