Centenary of First Match 1892-1992

1992 Collimgwood Centenary Cover

Collingwood's first match on 7th May 1892 was played against Carlton in front of 16,000 fans. Carlton won 3 goals to 2 goals. The re-enactment game in front of over 83,000 fans was again won by Carlton.

Of all the long term AFL/VFL teams Carlton is the only team to have a positive win-loss ratio against the Magpies. Of the 213 games played until the end of the Centenary season, Collingwood have won 100, Carlton 109 and there have been 4 draws.
