The Sydney Swans
won their first Premiership since 1933, and their first since moving
to Sydney in 1982, to start the national competition. It was one of
the best finals of all time with the Swans winning by four points,
when Leo Barry took a mark deep in the backline seconds before the
final siren sounded.
In a follow on from 2004, Australia Post issued a
Souvenir Event Sheet on Monday the 26th September to commemorate the
win. The sheet had ten Globe and map stamps with the Premiership Cup
in the label.
