Poktapok
Poktapok appears to have been played in all major
Mayan Cities around 500BC. Two teams used rubber balls, the first to be used in
history. The Aztecs continued on with a similar game, called Ullamatzli. A
modified version is played today in North West Mexico.
Although other games were played in both North, Central and South America,
records of football do not exist.
Koura
Koura was played in North Africa in 700BC by the
Berbers. It appears to have a fertility right aspect. |
